மு.வ. எனச் சுருக்கமாக அழைக்கப்பட்ட பேராசிரியர் மு.வரதராசன் (1912 ஏப். 25 - 1974 அக். 10) புகழ் பெற்ற தமிழ் அறிஞர்களுள் ஒருவர். இலக்கியக் கட்டுரைகள், ஆராய்ச்சி நூல்கள் போன்றவை மட்டுமின்றிப் பல சிறுகதைகள், புதினங்கள் போன்றவற்றையும் எழுதியுள்ளார். இனிய தமிழ் நடையும் உயர்ந்த சிந்தனைகளை விதைக்கும் ஆற்றலும் கொண்டவை இவரது படைப்புகள். சாஹித்ய அகாதெமி (1961) விருது பெற்ற, இவர் எழுதிய ‘அகல் விளக்கு’ புதினம் நமது தள வாசகர்களுக்காக இங்கே... இது அகல் விளக்கின் சுடர்-1....
